You will be the manager and technical lead for all Engineering activities related to diverse global HV cable systems projects in Offshore & HVDC businesses and leading a team of approx. 20 highly experienced engineers. You will drive excellence by ensuring that Engineering activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with customer expectations, contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.
Your responsibilities:
You will manage a team of approx. 20 highly experienced and skilled engineers and will be responsible for the resources planning, people development and extension of the team. Additionally, you will take responsibility for the engineering scope for projects worth several hundreds of millions € and will work closely with the team and customers to shape and deliver high quality creative solutions and utilizing feedback to drive the delivery of innovative improvements and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction results. You will lead and coordinate the Engineering team across various disciplines on projects of high complexity, sharing technical knowledge and best practices as well as develop and review standard processes, tools and techniques while ensuring that Engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements. Further key tasks are:
• Supporting the Project Manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments and overseeing the implementation of resulting improvement and mitigation actions
• Supporting contract managers in issuing claims related to changes in project scope, including assessing cost and time impacts as well as risk quantifications
• Drive digitalization how to optimize processes, methods, tools to speed up and reduce tender preparation time
• Identify mid- and long-term market and customer trends and initiate the development projects accordingly
Your background:
You have a Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering and a commercial background. Furthermore, you can prove several years of relevant professional experience in Engineering of High Voltage Cable Products/Systems, in management of project scope, cost, schedules and vendors/subcontractors and in management people and teams. You have a sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes and tools, including preferable design of cable systems and a strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines. Further important qualifications are:
• A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly to customer and projects, as required
• Fluent in English and German
